Combining her sultry voice and electric guitar to create pop songs infused with blues and soul, Mary Spender’s songwriting showcases her virtuosic style of guitar playing as well as her wide vocal range.
In the last 18 months, Mary has sold out standalone headline shows in Bristol and London, but now after a year spent growing her online presence in the guitar world, she’s proud to announce her debut headline tour with DHP.
She has toured the UK, Europe and US; highlights include supporting Gabrielle Aplin and Joey Landreth as well as performing at iconic venues such as The Bluebird Café in Nashville.
After years of trying to appeal to everyone, Mary took a step back and started to focus on a niche audience who would appreciate her unique style of playing and performing. Starting a series on YouTube called ‘Tuesday Talks’ that is predominantly targeted towards guitarists and singer/songwriters, Mary shares her own experiences or interviews prominent artists such as KT Tunstall, Devin Townsend and Joanne Shaw Taylor. Mary has found an interactive community who are incredible supportive of Mary’s independent artist status.
Performing songs from her latest EPs, ‘Taking Shape’ and ‘Faux Americana’ Mary is currently working on a new release to coincide with the tour.
